As an SEN Teacher, you will play a crucial role in planning, delivering, and assessing highly engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of our students. You will be instrumental in fostering their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development, empowering them to become confident and independent learners.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and deliver creative, personalised lessons across the curriculum that meet the diverse learning styles and needs of students with SEN
Adapt teaching materials and utilise specialist equipment and facilities to enhance learning outcomes
Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), meticulously tracking and reporting on student progress
Implement effective behaviour management strategies to create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, support staff, parents, carers, and a range of external professionals (e.g., therapists, educational psychologists, social workers) to ensure holistic support for each student
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and interventions
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
Proven experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs in a school setting is desired
A strong understanding of various SEN conditions and effective pedagogical approaches for supporting diverse learners
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families
Patience, empathy, resilience, and a calm demeanour in challenging situations
Creativity, resourcefulness, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
A relevant SEN qualification or specific training (e.g., in Makaton, PECS, or a particular SEN specialism) is highly desirable
