Job Description:

Teacher of Psychology role at Cardinal Newman College, a Catholic Sixth Form College. The Psychology department is highly motivated and supportive, with standardized resources and delivery. The department offers OCR A level Psychology and Pearson BTEC Applied Psychology Extended Certificate.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons to achieve excellent student outcomes
  • Set and mark work in accordance with College and department Assessment policy
  • Develop rapport with individuals and whole groups to facilitate the learning process
  • Liaise with Head of Departments to contribute to administration supporting teaching and learning
  • Teach in other departments where required
  • Attend and contribute to team, full staff and other relevant meetings
  • Communicate and consult with parents, carers, students as appropriate, including attendance at Consultation and Open Evenings

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of skill in the management of learning with a commitment to a student-centred approach
  • Awareness and understanding of current developments in the subject area
  • Ability to manage student progress and achievement
  • High level of organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to set and achieve high standards for yourself, colleagues, and students
  • Values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College
  • Commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults
