Job Description:

Teacher of Maths to join the Mathematics department at Cardinal Newman Catholic Sixth Form College. The department offers A Level Maths, A Level Statistics, A Level Further Maths, Core Maths, GCSE Maths, Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths, and the Lancaster University Foundation Year.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons
  • Set and mark work in accordance with College and department Assessment policy
  • Develop rapport with individuals and whole groups
  • Liaise with Head of Departments
  • Teach in other departments where required
  • Attend and contribute to team, full staff and other relevant meetings
  • Communicate and consult with parents, carers, students
  • Attend Consultation and Open Evenings
  • Conduct Curriculum Plus sessions (1:1 support, small group work, revision sessions)

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of skill in the management of learning
  • Commitment to a student-centred approach
  • Awareness and understanding of current developments in the subject area
  • Ability to manage student progress and achievement
  • High level of organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to set and achieve high standards
  • Values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College
  • Commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults
