An exciting opportunity to join a pioneering curriculum team at an innovative and rapidly growing school. Shireland CBSO Academy, opened in September 2023, is a unique institution established in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. As the country’s first state school to open in partnership with an arts organisation, our academy offers an ambitious, creative and inclusive environment where every student’s potential is nurtured and celebrated. L4L is our thematic, knowledge‑rich curriculum at Key Stage 3, designed to develop powerful knowledge, critical thinking and cross‑curricular understanding. Through rich texts, real‑world contexts and carefully sequenced enquiry, L4L provides students with the foundations they need to thrive across the wider curriculum. Beyond its academic rigour, L4L offers significant pastoral strengths. Teachers spend extended periods of time with their classes, enabling them to build strong relationships and understand each pupil as an individual. This continuity supports not only students' academic progress but also their personal development and wellbeing, creating a nurturing environment where every child is known and valued. These sustained interactions play a crucial role in easing the transition into secondary school, helping pupils feel settled and confident, and ensuring they are supported both academically and emotionally as they embark on their Key Stage 3 journey. Our school benefits from a vibrant, music‑rich learning community, state‑of‑the‑art facilities, and a culture built on collaboration, inclusion and high aspirations.
