Job Responsibility
Teach the IB DP Psychology syllabus (SL and HL), covering the Biological, Cognitive, and Sociocultural approaches, plus specialized options (e.g., Abnormal or Developmental Psychology)
Lead students through the Internal Assessment (IA), ensuring rigorous experimental design, ethical compliance, and statistical analysis
Act as a supervisor for students undertaking their independent research project in Psychology
Prepare students for external examinations (Papers 1, 2, and 3) using official IB criteria to provide actionable feedback
Collaborate with the Inclusion team to adapt the curriculum for diverse learners and implement Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills
Integrate psychological theory into school-wide projects that promote resilience, mental health, and student well-being
Work with coordinators and parents to support students' emotional and academic success within the rigorous DP framework
Support staff training on child/adolescent development and contribute to the admissions process through pedagogical assessments
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology (Essential)
A teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) is highly preferred
Proven experience teaching IB DP Psychology or a strong desire to undergo IBO Category 1 training
Strong command of quantitative and qualitative research methods, as well as the ability to teach descriptive and inferential statistics
Near-native fluency in English
Fluency in Portuguese is a significant asset for community integration
Ability to design engaging experiments and utilize case studies to bring abstract psychological theories to life
Ability to manage internal IB deadlines (IAs, Predicted Grades) while maintaining a high standard of classroom management
Confidence in using educational technology and data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Excel, or Google Sheets) for psychological research
A commitment to the IB Learner Profile, fostering international-mindedness and ethical thinking in all students
