Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Geography Specialist to join a friendly, community-focused secondary school right in the heart of Thornton (L23). This is a long-term position starting this April. You will be joining a school that prides itself on its supportive atmosphere, where staff well-being is a priority and the students are eager to learn about the world around them.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and deliver creative Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4, bringing the subject to life through contemporary case studies
  • Assess student work and provide constructive feedback that drives progress and fosters a love for the subject
  • Lead and support local fieldwork, making the most of the unique Sefton coastline and urban landscapes
  • Work alongside a friendly team to develop resources and share best practices
  • Engage in the wider school community, potentially taking on form tutor responsibilities to support student well-being

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification with a degree in Geography or a related field
  • Subject Expertise: A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and the ability to prepare students for GCSE success
  • Classroom Management: The ability to create a focused, inclusive, and positive learning atmosphere
  • Flexibility: A proactive attitude and a willingness to adapt to the specific needs of the school and its pupils
