Northcroft School is a specialist setting for pupils in Years 7 to 11, offering a personal, nurturing environment alongside specialist professional support. We work with young people with needs including SEMH, ASD, ADHD and past trauma, helping them feel safe, valued and ready to learn. We are seeking a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Teacher of English who understands that students take different pathways in their learning. You will deliver engaging English teaching across KS3 and KS4, with the ability to draw on KS2 knowledge where needed to close gaps and support progression into KS4. You will join a dedicated team that works collaboratively to share and evolve best practice, with support through Amegreen Education and West Berkshire.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that lead to strong progress and outcomes
Teach English across KS3 and KS4, adapting content and approach to meet individual needs
Identify and address gaps in prior learning, including drawing on KS2 strategies where appropriate
Create a calm, safe learning environment and manage behaviour effectively
Provide strong pastoral support and promote pupils’ personal development and wellbeing
Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school improvement priorities
Maintain accurate records, assessment and reporting in line with school expectations
Support revision sessions and extra-curricular opportunities as required
Requirements:
Good degree in subject and QTS
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 effectively, with up-to-date curriculum knowledge
Strong adaptive teaching skills for a range of learning needs
A positive, engaging teaching style that motivates and inspires pupils
A consistent approach to behaviour, boundaries and relationship building
Commitment to contributing to wider school life, including revision and enrichment
