Job Description
An exciting opportunity to join a thriving English team in an innovative and rapidly growing school. Shireland CBSO Academy, opened in September 2023, is a unique institution established in partnership with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. As the country’s first state school to open in partnership with an arts organisation, our academy offers an ambitious, creative and inclusive environment where every student’s potential is nurtured and celebrated. We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Teacher of English to join our established and highly successful English team. This role would suit either an experienced practitioner or an Early Career Teacher eager to make a real impact. Our team has a strong record of success at KS3 and KS5, and the successful candidate will play an important part in delivering English to our first KS4 cohort, supporting the development of a rigorous, inspiring and knowledge‑rich curriculum. You will be joining a collaborative, reflective and ambitious team who are deeply committed to excellent English teaching, high expectations and a love of literature. You will contribute to shaping a curriculum that champions powerful knowledge, disciplinary literacy, and high levels of challenge for all learners. Our school benefits from a vibrant, music‑rich learning community, state‑of‑the‑art facilities, and a culture built on inclusion, creativity and high aspirations. Whether you are an experienced teacher looking for your next chapter or an ECT seeking a supportive start to your career, you will be supported by strong departmental leadership, the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust’s extensive CPD offer, and plenty of opportunities to grow and develop.
