To join our team in August 2026, we are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Design Technology. All staff actively participate in the pastoral life of the school, ensuring students reach their academic potential while developing essential social and personal skills for life. This role also offers opportunities to contribute to co-curricular clubs, creative workshops, and design-focused enrichment activities.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver engaging instruction in Design Technology aligned with the IB (MYP/DP) framework
Plan creative, hands-on lessons that develop technical, design, and problem-solving skills
Implement the IB design cycle and inquiry-based learning approaches
Ensure the safe and effective use of tools, machinery, and materials
Assess student work using IB criteria and provide constructive feedback
Support student well-being through active participation in pastoral care
Encourage involvement in design competitions, clubs, and maker activities
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Maintain an organised, inspiring, and safe workshop environment
Collaborate with colleagues to share good practice and engage in professional development
Requirements:
A relevant degree in Design Technology, Product Design, Engineering, or related field
A valid teaching qualification and experience teaching within IB programmes (MYP and/or DP)
Strong practical knowledge of workshop tools, materials, and safety procedures
Ability to inspire creativity and innovative thinking in students
Competence with CAD/CAM and digital design tools
Strong differentiation skills to support diverse learners
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective teaching
Experience contributing to extra-curricular or design-related enrichment
A strong understanding of safeguarding and student welfare
Nice to have:
Ideally with experience teaching within IB programmes (MYP and/or DP Design Technology)
