This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious Teacher of Design & Technology to secure a full-time, permanent position starting in September. Operating in a third-person capacity, the successful educator will step into a highly collaborative, resource-rich environment designed to foster a love for practical problem-solving. Job Responsibility
Deliver Engaging Curriculum: Plan and teach high-quality D&T lessons that promote a love of learning and match the academy's ambitious curriculum
Ensure Workshop Safety: Maintain impeccable health and safety standards in the workshop, ensuring all pupils adhere to strict safety protocols
Monitor and Assess Progress: Grade student coursework, portfolios, and practical pieces in line with GCSE and KS3 assessment criteria
Manage Equipment and Materials: Collaborate with department technicians to monitor stock levels, prepare materials, and maintain tooling infrastructure
Provide Pastoral Care: Act as a Form Tutor, delivering care, support, and guidance to foster student's personal development
Promote School Values: Actively uphold and model the institution's core values of respect, manners, responsibility, and resilience
Contribute to Extra-Curricular Life: Participate in the academy's extensive enrichment programmes, creative clubs, or community exhibitions
Engage in Departmental Collaboration: Attend departmental meetings, share best practices, and contribute to the shared development plan
Communicate with Stakeholders: Provide regular, constructive feedback to parents and guardians via parent's evenings, reports, and phone calls

Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification
Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one)
Commitment to Safeguarding: Thorough understanding of current "Keeping Children Safe in Education" (KCSIE) guidelines
Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK
Exceptional Subject Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of the Design & Technology National Curriculum, including materials, electronics, and CAD/CAM software
Practical Workshop Proficiency: Expertise in safely operating and demonstrating standard workshop machinery (e.g., band saws, pillar drills, laser cutters)
Differentiated Lesson Planning: Mastery in adapting complex technical projects to stretch high-achieving pupils while scaffolding for SEN or disadvantaged learners
Relationship-Building Capabilities: Strong interpersonal skills to forge positive, respectful connections with pupils, colleagues, and parents
Formative Assessment Tracking: Skill in diagnosing learning gaps through real-time feedback, project portfolios, and exam data analysis
