Teacher of Criminology at Cardinal Newman College. The WJEC Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology is a popular subject at the college, delivered to over 700 students. Year 12 includes Unit 1 Changing Awareness of Crime and Unit 2 Criminological Theories and Year 13 includes Unit 3 Crime Scene to Courtroom and Unit 4 Crime and Punishment. The successful candidate will become part of a highly motivated, supportive and collaborative team of 9 staff members.
Job Responsibility:
Contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of College life
Plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons in order to achieve excellent student outcomes
Set and mark work in accordance with College and department Assessment policy, to record work carried out and assessment of same
Develop rapport with individuals and whole groups in order to facilitate the learning process
Liaise with both the Head of Departments in contributing to the administration necessary to support the teaching and learning within the subject area
Teach in other departments where required
Attend and contribute to team, full staff and other relevant meetings
Communicate and consult with parents, carers, students as appropriate, including attendance at Consultation and Open Evenings
Requirements:
Relevant degree
Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
High level of communication and interpersonal skills
High level of skill in the management of learning with a commitment to a student-centred approach
Awareness and understanding of current developments in the subject area
Ability to manage student progress and achievement
High level of organisational and administrative skills
Ability to set and achieve high standards for yourself, colleagues, and students
