We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Five Wells, working as a Creative Writing Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, Full-time basis, working 37 hours per week.

Job Responsibility

  • Stretching and challenging high-level learners to refine their craft and explore advanced writing techniques
  • Sparking interest and confidence in lower-level learners, helping them discover the joy of storytelling and self-expression
  • Creating a supportive, inclusive classroom that encourages imagination and personal growth

Requirements

  • Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • Have previous track record showing achievement of quality targets
  • Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can motivate and enthuse learners
  • Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
  • Demonstrate positive team working
