Job Description:

We are looking for a British Sign Language Teacher! - 0.2 FTE 7.2hrs per week. Tameside College has an excellent reputation and this is a real opportunity for you to make a difference in people’s lives. We’re based in Ashton-Under-Lyne Greater Manchester in a diverse and vibrant further education college that offers a wide range of course including A level and advanced level vocational study programmes, Apprenticeships and adult courses up to degree Level. We aim to give all our students an exceptional experience.

Job Responsibility:

  • Teaching on the Signature suite of BSL programmes
  • Follow the specification and prepare learners for their assessments
  • Engage with all aspects of the teaching programmes ensuring students participate in innovative lessons that motivate whilst also supporting progression and achievement
  • Planning, delivering and developing teaching/learning programmes using a flexible range of strategies and learning styles
  • Taking responsibility for quality of teaching and related curriculum development that meet learner needs
  • Assessing learners progress in College or on work experience and devise assessment processes against highly personalised progress targets

Requirements:

  • Enthusiastic, resilient and highly motivated
  • Literacy and Numeracy to at least Level 2
  • Level 3 qualification in BSL
  • Ideally hold a Level 4 Teaching Qualification: Certificate in Education/ PGCE/Bachelor of Education or required to achieve Level 5 Diploma (DTLLS) or equivalent within 3 years of appointment
  • Experienced and be a strong team player with excellent communication skills
