A BVSD teacher demonstrates a strong knowledge of the curriculum and content area while positively impacting student achievement through innovative instructional strategies and effectively managing the learning environment.
Job Responsibility:
Facilitate learning experiences and teaches the course of study as outlined by the District approved curriculum
utilizes innovative and differentiated instructional strategies to meet individual needs and motivate students
and plans and develops an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom using the approved District instructional model and adhering to state and school district curriculum guidelines
Provide specialized instruction and research based intervention in the areas of academics, behavior, social emotional learning, and executive functioning
Implementation of IEP services and behavior plans
Manage and direct the work of paraprofessional and/or volunteers who support IEP implementation
Accommodate, modify and adapt work in alignment with the student’s IEP
Provide appropriate support for students with physical, health/medical, or safety needs
Develop and implement an IEP for each student on the caseload, monitoring dates for compliance
Complete progress monitoring and coordinate progress reports for all students on their caseload
Collect and analyze data using multiple assessment tools, formal and informal for Initial and Re-evaluations to guide eligibility determinations and IEP development including behavior planning
Utilize Data Driven Instruction and Inquiry (DDI) model to systematically improve student learning
Collaborate with families, paraprofessionals, and other service providers
Create and foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
Create and support a culture of equity and inclusion
Understand and identify barriers in classroom instructional practices that contribute to disproportionate outcomes for underrepresented groups of students
Develop positive relationships with parents/families
Exhibit a growth mindset through participation in high quality professional learning
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in: Early Childhood Special Education
Meet and maintain the requirements for Large Center Director Qualification as required by Colorado Department of Human Services Division of Child Care Licensure, including but not limited to CBI/FBI, Trails Background, Out of State Background, Current Health Statement signed by a medical provider, CPR/First Aid, Universal Precautions, Medication Administration, and all required pre-service trainings
Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application
Nice to have:
Dual licensure in Early Childhood Special Education and in Early Childhood Education
Expertise and experience working with English Language Learners
Bilingual/Biliterate Spanish/English
Experience teaching children, ages 3 to 5
Ability to work on a transdisciplinary team
Strong understanding of accommodations, modifications and strategies to use with preschool children who have special education needs
Ability to differentiate instruction in an inclusionary preschool model
Ability to use data to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate environment that promotes social, physical and intellectual growth of young children
Knowledge, experience and comfort in engaging all families in the educational planning for preschool age children, including home visits, parent conferences, parent volunteer opportunities and development of Individual Learning Plans in collaboration with family, other agencies and colleagues
