Job Description

Full-time position (1.0 FTE). 7 hours per day, 10 months per year, school calendar. Instruct secondary students in the area of Building Construction. Monitor student progress. Maintain discipline in the classroom and work sites. Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Principal & Assistant Principal.

Requirements

  • Valid NYS Teaching Certification
  • Extensive experience in Building Trades is required
  • Minimum 5–10+ years of verified, full-time experience in construction trades
  • Demonstrated experience in: Residential home building, Carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, roofing, and drywall
  • Blueprint reading and construction processes
  • Experience as a crew leader, foreman, or supervisor preferred
  • Strong knowledge of: OSHA safety standards, Local and National building codes
  • Construction math and measurement
  • Use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to: Demonstrate proper trade techniques, interpret blueprints and building plans
  • Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience in career and technical education (CTE), apprenticeship programs, or workforce development
  • Possession of or eligibility for New York State CTE Teaching Certification in Construction/Building Trades (or willingness to obtain)
  • Industry-recognized certifications such as: OSHA 10/30 (Construction), NCCER Certification or First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
  • Experience integrating academic skills (math, literacy, science) into hands-on technical instruction
  • Familiarity with Career and Technical Education standards and work-based learning requirements in NYS
  • Model industry-standard practices

  • Experience as a crew leader, foreman, or supervisor preferred
  • Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience in career and technical education (CTE), apprenticeship programs, or workforce development
