Are you a driven tax professional ready to lead and innovate? We are seeking an experienced Tax Supervisor for our dynamic on-site team in Reston, VA. Join a collaborative, detail-oriented environment where your expertise will drive compliance, support strategic financial initiatives, and help shape process improvements. The Tax Supervisor oversees income tax provision and accounting, ensuring robust compliance and reporting for income and non-income taxes, including Sales & Use tax, Personal Property tax, Business Licenses, Annual Reports, and Federal and State income tax filings. You’ll also contribute to tax planning, audit support, and process enhancements—helping minimize risk and optimize costs.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage all aspects of domestic income, franchise, and gross receipts tax compliance: federal, state, and local returns

  • Calculate and review book-to-tax adjustments, state apportionment, and state modifications
  • Prepare and oversee income tax calculations, payments, and returns
  • Prepare and review year-end tax provision packets, including Effective Tax Rate analysis, Uncertain Tax Positions (UTP), exposure analysis, and all related documentation
  • Identify tax issues and opportunities with minimal guidance, demonstrating strong analytical skills
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law and compliance software
  • Train, coach, and develop tax staff
  • Proactively expand your tax expertise through regular continuing education and training

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. degree required
  • 5–7 years of income tax or equivalent public accounting experience
  • Proven experience preparing federal and state corporate tax returns
  • Familiarity with multi-state taxation requirements
  • Strong tax provision (ASC 740), accounting, and technical tax knowledge
  • Ability to work on-site in Reston, VA

Nice to have

  • CPA or progressing towards CPA highly desired
  • Experience with tax compliance software (CorpTax preferred)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication skills—both written and verbal
  • Ability to respond clearly to audit and internal inquiries
