Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Staff member to join our team in Wadsworth, Illinois. In this role, you will oversee state and local tax compliance processes, ensure accurate financial reporting, and provide valuable insights to improve operational efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong accounting expertise to contribute to the success of our organization.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare, file, and ensure timely payment of all state and local taxes for the company
  • Conduct research on annual tax rate changes and update tax database software accordingly
  • Manage and update margin spreadsheets to reflect any tax adjustments
  • Coordinate month-end activities and oversee the company's financial closing processes
  • Monitor and reconcile daily activity for the organization, investigating and resolving discrepancies
  • Audit store paperwork daily to ensure compliance with company policies
  • Post journal entries during month-end processes with accuracy
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and address variances
  • Collaborate on new initiatives to enhance financial efficiency and streamline operations
  • Provide detailed analysis and reports to the management team to support decision-making

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, with proven ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Expertise in handling state and local tax compliance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data manipulation
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team-oriented mindset with a commitment to working collaboratively
