We are looking for a tax and accounting specialist to join a growing public accounting firm serving clients from a fully remote environment. This position combines hands-on tax preparation, client bookkeeping support, and internal accounting responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical work with trusted client partnership. Job Responsibility
Prepare and review individual and business tax filings with attention to accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal and state requirements
Manage bookkeeping activities for a portfolio of clients, including maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end reporting needs
Provide accounting support for the firm's own financial operations, helping maintain organized internal books and reliable financial data
Work directly with clients to answer accounting and tax questions, identify needs, and deliver practical guidance that supports their financial goals
Use accounting and tax platforms such as QuickBooks, Excel, and related tax software to complete engagements efficiently and maintain documentation
Assist clients with a broad range of services that may include business accounting, personal tax matters, and advisory support related to financial planning considerations
Contribute to the continued growth of a remote-first practice by building strong client relationships and supporting high-quality service delivery
Participate in occasional in-person meetings in Tacoma, Washington as needed for firm collaboration or planning activities
Support evolving practice needs, including process improvements and technology-based workflow management within the firm's digital operating model
Requirements
At least 4 to 5 years of experience in public accounting with a strong focus on tax and client accounting services
CPA or Enrolled Agent credential is preferred
candidates who are eligible and actively interested in pursuing licensure will also be considered
Demonstrated experience preparing individual and corporate tax returns, including more complex business tax engagements
Strong bookkeeping background with the ability to manage full-cycle accounting tasks for client accounts
Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel, along with experience using tax software such as Lacerte, Drake, CCH ProSystem fx, or similar tools
Ability to manage both internal accounting responsibilities and client-facing service work in a remote setting
Strong communication skills and a client-centered approach, with the ability to build trust and support long-term relationships
Self-motivated mindset with an interest in contributing to a growing firm and taking on increased responsibility over time
