Job Description

Indirect Tax Head role, independently handling compliance, overseeing first level GST audits with appropriate responses and F2F handling of assessment and managing all queries/ audits/ notices raised by GST department

Job Responsibility

  • Ensure Full Statutory Compliance for India and Banglades Indirect Taxes - Deliver 100% compliance with GST by ensuring accurate, timely filings, reconciliations, and statutory submissions across all states and legal entities
  • Optimize Indirect Tax Costs and Cash Flow - Achieve nil indirect tax leakage by ensuring correct classification, input credit optimization, GST rate applicability, credit reversals, and maximizing cash flow through efficient credit utilization and refund management
  • Mitigate Indirect Tax Risks and Avoid Litigation - Minimize exposure to tax disputes by implementing strong controls, proactively addressing audit observations, ensuring correct documentation, and resolving issues before they escalate to litigation
  • Lead Compliance for New Plants, Business Expansion, Supply Chain Changes, and New Products - ensuring tax-compliant structure and documentation
  • Provide Strategic Tax Advisory - Deliver tax advice on inter‑state transfers, imports/exports, and capex projects ensuring decisions are risk‑free and tax‑efficient
  • Own Indirect Tax Governance, Controls & Process Excellence - Strengthen governance by ensuring best‑in‑class tax processes, SOPs, internal controls, system configurations (ERP/ SAP/ GSTN), audit trails, and continuous improvements, reducing errors and audit findings
  • Manage Relationships with External Stakeholders - Ensure effective engagement with tax authorities, compliance partners, external counsel, consultants, industry bodies, and auditors to protect the company’s interests and stay ahead of regulatory changes
  • Monitor Legislative & Regulatory Changes and Ensure Timely Implementation - Proactively track changes in GST law, customs notifications, circulars, and case laws, and drive organization‑wide implementation with zero business disruption
  • Lead Indirect Tax Audits, Assessments & Litigation - audits, departmental assessments, and appeals, support preparing robust submissions, maintaining strong documentation, and representing the company
  • Managing and tracking the compliance conditions for the approved Fiscal Incentives (multiple states), ensuring timely closure of all related audits (Financial & Engineering) and return filings
  • Quarterly forecast for Indirect Tax Balances and monthly analysis for the cause of change forecast vs. actual and Previous month vs. Current month and reconciliation of tax accounts ensuring Balance Sheet hygiene of Tax Balances
  • GST reconciliation for the vendors and customers ensuring no credit lapse, including monthly compilation, communication with vendors, issue resolution, escalation management, Monitoring of GST retention and release
  • Develop & Mentor a High‑Performing Indirect Tax Team - Build organizational capability by coaching team members, enhancing domain expertise, and creating future-ready talent
