Job Description:

As a Tax Specialist, you will play a key role in implementing the country specific tax strategy aligned with global policies and business objectives. You will ensure compliance and control across direct and indirect tax obligations through the IKEA Group Tax Control Framework. Your responsibilities include accurate and timely tax filings, managing transfer pricing documentation, and supporting statutory and management reporting in both AU and NZ. You will advise the local finance team on tax matters, handle audits, and contribute to optimising legal structures and investment setups. Additionally, you will ensure tax relevant automation outputs are compliant, maintain proper records, and foster tax awareness across teams. You will participate in local and global projects providing relevant input.

Job Responsibility:

  • Implementing the country specific tax strategy aligned with global policies and business objectives
  • Ensuring compliance and control across direct and indirect tax obligations through the IKEA Group Tax Control Framework
  • Accurate and timely tax filings, managing transfer pricing documentation, and supporting statutory and management reporting in both AU and NZ
  • Advising the local finance team on tax matters, handling audits, and contributing to optimising legal structures and investment setups
  • Ensuring tax relevant automation outputs are compliant, maintaining proper records, and fostering tax awareness across teams
  • Participating in local and global projects providing relevant input.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in tax operations with at least 4 years in Tax, both in advisory and in-house roles
  • A degree in Tax Law, Tax Economics, Finance or an equivalent degree
  • High analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate tax risks, identify opportunities for improvement and enact action plans to achieve them
  • A strong collaborative approach working with stakeholders at all levels of the business, including Group Tax, Finance and Legal teams
  • Deep understanding of local tax regulations, compliance frameworks, and tax planning strategies, and can translate complex information into easily digestible concepts for a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience working in the unknown and dealing with ambiguity and being adaptable in a constantly evolving retail landscape.
