Our client, a leading organization in the retail sector, is seeking a highly skilled Tax Specialist to join their finance and accounting team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience in corporate and partnership tax filings, and a strong understanding of Canadian tax compliance requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing and filing a variety of tax returns while supporting broader corporate tax initiatives. ... Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare working papers for T2, T5013, and T106 filings
  • Prepare and file T2 corporate tax returns and T5013 partnership returns, including Quebec and Alberta equivalents where applicable
  • Prepare and file information returns including T106, T5, T4A-NR, T4A, and NR4 forms
  • Reconcile and file sales tax (GST, QST, PST) and withholding tax (NR4s)
  • Produce journal entries related to tax activities
  • Assist with Corporate Income Tax (CIT) provisions
  • Support ad-hoc tax and accounting projects as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • Proven experience preparing and filing T2 and T5013 returns using Wolters Kluwer’s Tax Prep and Tax Forms applications
  • Strong familiarity with relevant tax schedules (1–6, 8, 9, 13, etc.)
  • Excellent understanding of local tax jurisdictions, accounting principles, and legal frameworks
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with EIFEL calculations and completion of Schedule 130 of the T2 return
  • Experience with GST/QST/PST filing processes
  • Experience filing T106, T5, T4A-NR, T4A, and NR4 returns
