Job Description

A leading Chester-based accountancy firm is looking to recruit a Tax Senior / Personal Tax Senior to join their growing Private Client Tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Personal Tax Advisor who enjoys client interaction and wants to build a long-term career in Personal Tax within a highly regarded firm. The role is predominantly focused on Personal Tax compliance and Self Assessment, with the opportunity to gain valuable exposure to Trusts, Inheritance Tax (IHT), Estates, and potentially some Corporation Tax depending on experience and interest.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing a portfolio of Personal Tax clients
  • Preparing and reviewing Self Assessment Tax Returns
  • Handling high-volume Personal Tax compliance work in a structured and organised way
  • Communicating with clients and providing day-to-day tax support
  • Supporting advisory work as your experience grows
  • Developing exposure to: Trusts
  • Inheritance Tax (IHT)
  • Estates / succession planning

Requirements

  • Experience working in accountancy practice / public practice
  • A background in Personal Tax and Self Assessment
  • Ideally 3–5 years experience in Personal Tax (flexible for the right candidate)
  • Confidence speaking with clients and building relationships
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage deadlines
  • A methodical approach and good attention to detail
  • An interest in developing knowledge in Trusts and IHT experience areas
  • ATT / AAT studying or qualified
  • ACA / ACCA studying or qualified
  • CTA aspirants (study support can be provided)
  • Qualified by experience (QBE) with strong Personal Tax experience

Nice to have

  • Working with IRIS tax software (experience preferred but not essential)
  • Potential involvement in Corporation Tax work (if desired)
