Job Description

Our client is a growing wealth management firm that partners closely with attorneys and tax professionals to support clients nationwide with tax preparation services. They currently have a significant tax backlog of approximately 400–700 returns that need to be completed and only have one tax preparer on staff, so they’re looking for experienced professionals who can jump in quickly with minimal ramp-up time.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare individual and business tax returns including: 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041 returns
  • Prepare information returns and other compliance filings
  • Review individual and business tax returns for accuracy
  • Communicate directly with clients to collect tax organizers and missing documentation
  • Help clean up bookkeeping records needed for business tax filings
  • Work within Intuit ProConnect (highly preferred)
  • Manage workflow through internal systems/CRM tools
  • Communicate with clients across the country regarding tax-related matters
  • Assist with IRS and tax authority correspondence as needed

Requirements

  • Recent tax preparation experience
  • Strong experience with both individual and business returns
  • ProConnect experience strongly preferred
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
  • Strong communication and client follow-up skills
  • Able to handle high-volume workloads and shifting priorities
  • Proven experience preparing tax returns across forms 1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, and 1041.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Intuit tax software, including experience working in detail-focused tax preparation platforms.
  • Strong background in individual and business tax preparation within a client-facing environment.
  • Ability to interpret financial records and identify issues that may affect the accuracy of a tax return.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with clients to obtain documents, explain information needs, and follow up on open items.
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping cleanup related to business tax return preparation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
