Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Tax Preparer to join a CPA firm in Tucson, Arizona. This position supports a diverse client base by delivering high-quality tax preparation, planning, and advisory services across multiple entity types. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to build trusted client relationships while helping guide team performance.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and support tax staff by setting clear expectations, offering technical guidance, and encouraging a collaborative team culture
  • Prepare and examine complex tax filings for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and nonprofit entities with a high degree of accuracy
  • Develop proactive tax planning recommendations that help clients manage obligations effectively while remaining aligned with applicable regulations
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements and address issues before they become larger risks
  • Research tax questions, interpret regulatory guidance, and present practical recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, responsive service, and thoughtful advice tailored to business and personal needs
  • Assist with audit-related matters by reviewing tax balances, supporting financial statement accuracy, and helping clients respond to tax authorities when needed
  • Track legislative and regulatory updates, share key changes with clients and colleagues, and provide training to entry-level team members
  • Prepare tax forecasts, periodic reports, and income projections to support client planning and decision-making
  • Contribute to practice growth by identifying opportunities for additional tax services and recommending process improvements that increase efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for multiple entity types, including individual, corporate, partnership, and nonprofit clients
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax rules, along with the ability to apply tax research to real client situations
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and communicate complex tax matters in a clear and detail-oriented manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Tax software accounting software such as UltraTax
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
