We are looking for a Tax Preparer to join a CPA firm in Westport, Connecticut in a Contract to Permanent role. This position offers the opportunity to support a close-knit office environment while preparing tax filings for individuals and small businesses. The ideal candidate is comfortable working onsite, brings strong organizational skills, and can contribute effectively during busy tax cycles.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individual clients as well as corporate and small business entities
Gather, organize, and verify financial records to ensure accurate and timely completion of tax filings
Communicate with clients and internal staff to resolve missing information, clarify tax documents, and support the filing process
Use tax software, including UltraTax or comparable platforms, to complete returns and maintain supporting documentation
Assist with tax planning support and help identify issues that may affect compliance or reporting requirements
Maintain organized client files and workpapers while following firm standards for accuracy, confidentiality, and documentation
Support the team during high-volume periods by managing multiple returns and prioritizing deadlines effectively
Requirements:
Experience preparing individual tax returns, with additional exposure to corporate or small business filings preferred
Familiarity with tax preparation software such as Thomson Reuters UltraTax or a similar application
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with financial data and tax documentation
Effective communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to working with clients and colleagues
Ability to work onsite in Westport, Connecticut within a small, collaborative office setting
Internship or prior hands-on experience in public accounting, tax preparation, or a related environment is preferred
