We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our team in Pleasantville, New York. In this role, you will handle a variety of tax preparation tasks, including federal and state filings, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy in reporting. This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work with complex financial data, and collaboration with clients and team members.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare accurate federal and state tax returns for S corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, and other entities
File payroll and sales taxes, including reconciling accounts and ensuring proper reporting
Review disorganized or incomplete financial records, performing reconciliations using tools like QuickBooks Desktop and other client systems
Analyze K-1 forms from multi-level entities, ensuring correct allocation for state and local taxes
Offer expert advice on special transactions, such as sales, distributions, and elections
Solve complex financial problems by employing critical thinking and practical solutions
Collaborate with clients and team members to gather essential information and clarify financial records
Utilize intermediate Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting
Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments and property tax declarations across multiple states
Handle tax filings for various state jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with unique requirements
Requirements:
Proven experience in tax preparation, including federal and state filings
Strong knowledge of payroll and sales tax reconciliation and reporting processes
Proficiency with financial software such as QuickBooks Desktop and Lacerte Tax Software
Ability to analyze complex K-1 forms and allocate taxes appropriately across jurisdictions
Solid understanding of tax regulations related to S corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates
Intermediate proficiency in Excel for financial analysis and data management
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex financial scenarios
Effective communication skills to collaborate with clients and team members
