Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Tax Payroll Associate to join an apparel manufacturing organization in Franklin, Tennessee in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position supports end-to-end payroll operations and payroll tax activities, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across multiple entities. The ideal candidate brings solid full-cycle payroll experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage detailed financial data while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibility

  • Administer full-cycle payroll for designated business entities, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule
  • Review and confirm payroll updates such as compensation changes, bonus payments, deductions, tax elections, direct deposit revisions, and equity-related items before processing
  • Maintain payroll procedures and provide cross-coverage support for team members during absences across payroll platforms
  • Assist with documenting workflows and contribute to payroll system enhancements, implementations, or process optimization efforts
  • Partner with leadership to manage payroll-related general ledger mappings, investigate coding discrepancies, and support necessary corrections
  • Perform payroll cash balancing activities, reconciliations, and audits of new employee setup to verify proper pay and tax configuration
  • Support recurring tax activities, including monthly sales tax reporting, quarterly unemployment filings, and local tax reconciliations tied to employee work jurisdictions
  • Contribute to year-end payroll tax processes by assisting with W-2 review, validating withholdings and payments, tracking federal tax deposits, and responding to routine employee payroll and tax questions

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in full-cycle payroll processing
  • Hands-on background in payroll tax reporting, withholdings, and reconciliations
  • Experience working with multi-state payroll in a high-volume or multi-entity environment
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and strong command of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to learn new payroll and accounting systems quickly and adapt to changing processes
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate across teams, and maintain regular on-site attendance in Franklin, Tennessee
