We are looking for an experienced Tax Payroll Associate to join an apparel manufacturing organization in Franklin, Tennessee in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position supports end-to-end payroll operations and payroll tax activities, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across multiple entities. The ideal candidate brings solid full-cycle payroll experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage detailed financial data while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibility:
Administer full-cycle payroll for designated business entities, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule
Review and confirm payroll updates such as compensation changes, bonus payments, deductions, tax elections, direct deposit revisions, and equity-related items before processing
Maintain payroll procedures and provide cross-coverage support for team members during absences across payroll platforms
Assist with documenting workflows and contribute to payroll system enhancements, implementations, or process optimization efforts
Partner with leadership to manage payroll-related general ledger mappings, investigate coding discrepancies, and support necessary corrections
Perform payroll cash balancing activities, reconciliations, and audits of new employee setup to verify proper pay and tax configuration
Support recurring tax activities, including monthly sales tax reporting, quarterly unemployment filings, and local tax reconciliations tied to employee work jurisdictions
Contribute to year-end payroll tax processes by assisting with W-2 review, validating withholdings and payments, tracking federal tax deposits, and responding to routine employee payroll and tax questions
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in full-cycle payroll processing
Hands-on background in payroll tax reporting, withholdings, and reconciliations
Experience working with multi-state payroll in a high-volume or multi-entity environment
Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and strong command of Microsoft Excel
Ability to learn new payroll and accounting systems quickly and adapt to changing processes
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Ability to work independently, collaborate across teams, and maintain regular on-site attendance in Franklin, Tennessee
