The role purpose is to implement Vodafone Portugal’s tax planning in line with Group international rules, ensuring the tax effectiveness of all operations. The role is responsible for achieving tax gains for the company, ensuring timely and accurate tax declarations, supporting other business areas, maintaining and improving tax processes, and providing tax perspectives for key decisions and to lead and inspire the Tax team to deliver Vodafone Portugal’s tax planning and compliance objectives, ensuring all activities are aligned with Vodafone’s strategic goals and high standards of integrity. The role is responsible for fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring that all tax operations support the company’s business objectives while upholding Group values and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Implement and optimise tax planning strategies in accordance with both local and Group requirements, identifying opportunities for tax benefits
Ensure all tax returns, payments, and reporting obligations are accurate and submitted within legal deadlines
Manage tax appeal processes, liaise with tax auditors, and ensure Vodafone’s position is well-supported and defended
Define, review, and approve internal/external tax procedures and group tax reporting, ensuring alignment with Group and local rules
Provide tax support to business projects, monitor tax changes, and promote necessary internal adaptations to maintain compliance
Requirements:
Degree in Accounting /Management/ Taxation
4–6 years of experience in tax consultancy
In-depth knowledge of international and Portuguese tax legislation
Analytical and decision-making skills for assessing tax risks and providing sound judgement
Collaboration and communication skills to work with internal teams, tax authorities, advisors, and auditors
Experience working with SAP is a plus
High proficiency in English
