Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team in Earth City, Missouri on a Contract basis. This role is focused on supporting multi-state sales and use tax compliance, ensuring filings are completed accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage the preparation, review, and submission of multi-state sales and use tax filings to meet all reporting deadlines
  • Analyze tax data, reconcile supporting records, and resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate compliance documentation
  • Support broader corporate tax activities, including work related to income tax provision and business tax return processes as needed
  • Utilize tax technology tools such as CCH ProSystem Fx, CCH Sales Tax, and Avalara to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency
  • Research state and local indirect tax rules and apply findings to filing requirements, registrations, and compliance decisions
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial information, answer tax-related questions, and address issues arising from a recent team departure
  • Maintain organized tax records and assist with entity-related documentation and compliance matters where applicable

Requirements:

  • Proven experience managing sales and use tax compliance across multiple states
  • Working knowledge of corporate tax return processes and annual income tax provision activities
  • Hands-on experience with CCH ProSystem Fx, CCH Sales Tax, and Avalara
  • Strong ability to interpret tax regulations, review financial data, and identify reporting issues
  • Familiarity with entity formation support and related compliance considerations
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize deadlines in a Contract role
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
