The Tax Manager plays a critical role in overseeing tax compliance, planning, and strategy for clients while ensuring alignment with the firm’s philosophy, policies, and financial objectives. This role requires deep technical expertise and an understanding of economic and regulatory trends that may impact clients. The Tax Manager develops and implements tax strategies to minimize liabilities, ensures adherence to evolving tax laws, and provides guidance to both clients and internal teams. Additionally, they mentor and supervise staff, foster professional development, and contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Job Responsibility:
Oversees client engagements, including tax planning, scheduling, and managing IRS/state audits, ensuring compliance and efficiency
Serves as the primary point of contact for clients, responding promptly to inquiries and managing tax engagements with proactive communication
Develops and maintains strong client relationships, gaining a deep understanding of their businesses to identify opportunities for additional services
Represents the firm at industry and regional events to strengthen client relationships and support business development
Leads tax compliance engagements, ensuring adherence to professional standards, deadlines, and budget expectations
Conducts research and provides guidance on complex tax matters, communicating findings to clients and internal teams
Stays current with evolving tax laws and industry regulations, applying this knowledge to client engagements
Provides training, mentorship, and supervision to staff, fostering professional growth through career coaching and technical expertise
Attains industry-specific knowledge through continuous professional education
Participates in community and firm-sponsored initiatives to enhance visibility and strengthen professional networks
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred
Active CPA licensure
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel
Requires at least seven (7) years of public accounting
Previous supervisory experience
