We are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded Tax Manager to oversee the tax function of a leading property conglomerate. This role will be responsible for managing direct and indirect tax matters, ensuring compliance with Malaysian tax regulations, and providing strategic tax advisory to support business growth. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of Big 4 experience and in-house commercial exposure, with a solid understanding of the property development and real estate landscape.
Job Responsibility:
Manage all corporate tax compliance matters, including preparation and review of tax computations, filings, and statutory submissions
Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns
Oversee SST (Sales and Service Tax) compliance and reporting
Liaise with tax authorities on queries, audits, and investigations
Provide tax advisory support on business transactions, property development projects, and group restructuring initiatives
Identify tax risks and opportunities, and recommend tax-efficient structures
Support mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and cross-border transactions
Keep abreast of changes in Malaysian tax legislation
Advise on tax implications relating to property development, real estate investments, and land transactions
Review tax treatments for development expenditures, revenue recognition, and capital allowances
Support structuring of property projects
Support transfer pricing documentation and compliance requirements
Ensure proper tax governance, policies, and documentation
Work closely with finance and internal audit teams
Liaise with external tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory authorities
Partner with internal stakeholders
Prepare tax updates and reports for senior management
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or CTA is preferred
5–7 years of relevant tax experience, ideally with prior experience in a Big 4 accounting firm and exposure to a commercial/in-house tax role
strong knowledge of Malaysian tax regulations, including corporate tax and SST
experience in property development / real estate sector is highly advantageous
familiarity with tax structuring, advisory, and compliance
