The Tax Manager (Brazil Lead) is responsible for directing the full tax agenda in Brazil, serving as the strategic liaison between Global Tax and local business units. This role encompasses tax consulting, planning, litigation management, and compliance, ensuring legal adherence, optimization of tax positions, mitigation of fiscal risks, and strategic support for business decisions.
Job Responsibility:
Act as the primary tax representative for Brazil
Advise senior leadership and cross‑functional teams on the tax implications of operational and strategic decisions
Lead tax planning initiatives
Monitor legislative and jurisprudential developments
Lead the assessment of the impacts of the Brazilian Tax Reform on company operations
Develop and implement compliance and optimization strategies
Provide technical tax advisory to internal stakeholders
Ensure accurate interpretation and application of federal, state, and municipal tax regulations
Define defense strategies for administrative and judicial tax cases
Manage the company's tax litigation portfolio
Review and evaluate guarantees related to ongoing tax proceedings
Ensure accuracy in fiscal closing processes and support both internal and external audits
Support digital transformation and tax automation initiatives
Ensure full compliance with tax requirements at the Federal, State, and Municipal levels
Manage the calculation and execution of monthly tax payments and annual tax returns
Act as a tax advisor to all business areas in Brazil
Lead and develop a team of seven tax professionals
Oversee a budget of over BRL 300K
Requirements:
Advanced English Communication Skills (mandatory)
Deep expertise in Brazilian tax legislation and jurisprudence
Proven experience in tax litigation strategy, tax planning, and compliance oversight
Strong command of global reporting standards
People management experience, having led teams of at least four professionals
Hands-on experience managing both direct and indirect taxes
Professional experience in U.S.-based companies
Background in tax accounting firms (highly valued)
Career path starting in a Big Four firm, followed by a transition to a U.S. multinational
