We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager - Public to join a public accounting team in Ashland, Virginia. This role focuses on managing the preparation and review of a broad range of tax filings, including corporate, nonprofit, and individual returns. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain accuracy while overseeing multiple engagements.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the preparation and final review of tax returns to ensure complete, accurate, and timely filings
Oversee engagements involving corporate tax matters and provide guidance on applicable compliance requirements
Manage the completion of nonprofit tax filings and confirm that returns align with current regulatory standards
Review individual income tax returns with close attention to detail, identifying issues and resolving discrepancies before submission
Utilize CCH ProSystem Fx and related tax software to organize workpapers, prepare returns, and support efficient workflow management
Support annual income tax provision activities by analyzing financial data and applying relevant tax reporting principles
Assist with sales tax considerations and related filings when required across client accounts
Advise on entity formation matters by helping evaluate tax implications and supporting proper documentation
Coordinate priorities across multiple assignments while maintaining high service standards and meeting deadlines
Requirements:
Prior experience in public accounting with responsibility for preparing and reviewing tax returns
Strong knowledge of corporate, nonprofit, and individual tax compliance requirements
Hands-on experience with annual income tax provision work
Proficiency with CCH ProSystem Fx and familiarity with CCH sales tax applications
Understanding of entity formation concepts and related tax considerations
Ability to review detailed financial and tax information with a high level of accuracy
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively
