The Melton & Melton, LLP Tax Internship program provides undergraduate and graduate accounting students with meaningful, hands-on experience and the opportunity to explore a future career with our firm. Our program is designed to build practical skills while preparing you for a seamless transition into full-time employment after graduation. Our goal is to extend full-time offers and welcome interns as permanent members of our team. At Melton & Melton LLP, we value our interns as integral members of the team. Throughout the internship, you’ll gain exposure to different areas of tax, collaborate with supervisors, managers, and partners, and receive regular mentorship and feedback.
Job Responsibility:
Assist with a variety of client engagements across diverse industries
Prepare a range of tax returns, which may include Individual, Corporate, Partnership, Estate, Gift, Trust, Payroll, Forms W-2 and 1099, Texas Franchise, and other state filings
Develop working knowledge of tax preparation software and related technology tools
Review data input, help resolve technical tax issues, and assist in reviewing completed returns
Prepare adjustments to client-prepared books as needed for tax compliance
Research and analyze tax issues and provide findings to senior team members
Support other projects as assigned while working closely with supervisors, managers, and partners
Requirements:
Completion of Intermediate Accounting I prior to the start of the internship
Minimum 3.0 overall GPA and 3.0 in accounting coursework
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship
