Job Description:

Robert Half is recruiting for an interim Tax Consultant for a leave of absence for our large Commercial Real Estate client. The Tax Consultant will possess strong experience preparing partnership tax returns for commercial real estate entities. This role will focus on federal and state compliance, K‑1 preparation, and coordination with accounting teams using ProSystem and Sage 300.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and review federal and multi‑state partnership tax returns (Form 1065) for commercial real estate entities
  • Prepare and analyze partner K‑1s, capital accounts, and basis schedules
  • Review depreciation, cost segregation, and fixed asset schedules
  • Analyze book‑to‑tax differences and ensure accurate tax adjustments
  • Coordinate with property/accounting teams to gather and validate financial data
  • Utilize ProSystems fx Tax for tax compliance and Sage 300 CRE for source financial data
  • Support tax planning, extensions, and tax notices as needed

Requirements:

  • Partnership tax experience, preferably in commercial real estate
  • Hands‑on experience with ProSystems fx Tax
  • Working knowledge of Sage 300
  • Strong understanding of real estate tax concepts (depreciation, allocations, basis)
  • Familiarity with multi‑entity and multi‑state structures
  • CPA or EA preferred but not required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on partnership taxation
  • Proven expertise in preparing and reviewing partnership tax returns (1065, K-1)
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations related to commercial real estate
  • Proficiency in using tax preparation software and tools
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Prepare well-organized client information and supporting documentation requests. Maintain positive relationships with assessor and tax jurisdiction personnel
  • Prepare assessment appeal support docs and negotiate values with assessors
  • Prepare, attend, and present appeals to the local jurisdictions both informally and formally at the Board hearings
  • Prepare property tax estimates, tax savings reports, and other valuation or tax reports for clients as needed
  • Review and approve client tax bills for payment
  • Travel as required to attend appeal hearings, property inspections, and client meetings
  • Stay up to date on market trends as it relates to real estate and/or property tax
