The Department of Revenue (DOR) Office of General Counsel offers these opportunities. Currently we are filling two Tax Attorney positions. Our mission is to strengthen Wisconsin through fair tax and lottery administration, while educating and serving the public, our customers and communities. The ideal candidate will enjoy learning and explaining complex concepts to administrative law judges, and will welcome the challenge of litigating appeals from a variety of sources, from individuals to multinational businesses.
Job Responsibility:
Represent the Department of Revenue in tax cases before the Tax Appeals Commission and in cases before other administrative agencies and the courts
Represent the Department in assessor decertification proceedings
Provide legal advice and opinions on a variety of legal questions
Review proposed legislation and rules
Requirements:
Graduated from an accredited law school
Possession of a license to practice law in the State of Wisconsin (WI) or will be licensed to practice law in the state of WI prior to the appointment date
Tax or civil litigation education or experience
Nice to have:
Tax and civil litigation experience
Real estate law experience
Corporate or business law experience
