Job Description

Our client, a local CPA firm based in Morristown, NJ is currently seeking a Tax Associate to join their firm. The Tax Associate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing returns, and ensuring deadlines are met. The Tax Associate will handle a combination of corporate, partnership, and individual returns. Familiarity with 1120, 1065, C-Corp, 1040's, Gift Returns, and Estate Returns is strongly preferred. The ideal Tax Associate will have their CPA or EA, and will have 3-5 years' recent experience in a Tax function at small or regional public accounting firm. Strong communication skills are a must, as is experience in a client-facing capacity.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of accounting experience, ideally within a public accounting environment or supporting multiple small-business clients
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks
  • At least 2 years of experience working with small businesses, particularly organizations with approximately 5 to 50 employees
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and communicate effectively with entrepreneurial business owners
  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation (strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage several clients at once and prioritize responsibilities independently
  • Experience with tax and accounting tools such as CCH ProSystem fx, CCH Sales Tax, corporate tax return preparation, income tax provision work, or entity formation support
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
