Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Tax & Accounting Manager to join our team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This is a unique public firm offering an accelerated partner track to run their own branch/location. This position requires a highly motivated individual with a strong background in accounting, tax services, and client relationship management. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing advisory services to clients.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee a range of accounting tasks, including financial statement preparation, review, and finalization
  • Manage client projects, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are completed efficiently
  • Identify client challenges and recommend effective solutions to address deficiencies
  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships through consistent communication and support
  • Ensure compliance deadlines are managed effectively for all assigned clients
  • Assist with onboarding new clients and integrating them into the company’s processes
  • Prepare and review individual and business tax returns, as well as create tax projections for clients
  • Conduct client meetings to provide advisory services and analyze financial statements
  • Lead and manage assigned staff, ensuring productivity and alignment with organizational goals
  • Travel to client locations or company offices as necessary to support operational needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
  • Active CPA or EA license is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and tax services
  • Proficiency in month-end close processes and general ledger management
  • Strong skills in financial statement audits, account reconciliation, and journal entries
  • Experience in public accounting, including tax and audit functions
  • CPA designation or current CPA license is highly desirable
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
