We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Tax Accountant to join our team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring compliance with a variety of tax regulations, including sales and use, personal property, and real estate taxes. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to handling tax-related tasks and supporting audits, while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in all deliverables.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and review sales and use tax returns to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
Manage the preparation and reconciliation of personal property and carline tax returns, including payments
Oversee the preparation and submission of business licenses and quarterly transaction tax filings
Calculate property tax budgets and perform accrual true-ups for management review
Create and submit exemption certificates for vendor transactions involving tax-exempt purchases
Maintain and audit customer exemption certificates to ensure proper documentation
Respond to tax notices and inquiries related to sales and use, property, and miscellaneous taxes
Conduct research on sales and use tax issues and assist with system updates as needed
Support sales and use, as well as personal property tax audits, by providing necessary documentation
Assist in maintaining the tax calendar and ensuring timely compliance with filing deadlines
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum of 3 years of relevant tax experience, with a preference for candidates with Big 4 or industry backgrounds
At least 2 years of experience in sales and use tax compliance
Familiarity with personal property tax processes, with 1 year of experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with tax-related software such as Microsoft D365, Vertex, Power BI, and other systems
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate and address tax-related inquiries
Ability to conduct thorough research and maintain accuracy in tax documentation
