The Tax Accountant position is responsible for providing critical support for the Company’s tax return process including filing of tax returns, issuance of payments, support of tax audits, and responding to tax notices. The position will also include general ledger support, treasury support and coordination with outside consultants. The Tax Accountant will gain exposure to both domestic and international tax as Allied Universal operates in North America and in over 100 countries.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and support federal, state, local, and international tax filings, including income, sales and use, property, fuel, environmental fees, gross profit reports, annual and amended returns, intangible taxes, and statutory filings
Coordinate with outsourced tax advisors and internal stakeholders on tax return preparation, review, filing, and payments
respond to tax authority correspondence and inquiries
Manage tax return processing logistics, including payment requests, signature coordination, mailing, e-filing tracking, certifications, and maintenance of compliance documentation
Process and resolve tax notices through research, written correspondence, discussions with tax authorities, coordination with external advisors, and payment processing
Prepare, process, reconcile, and track all tax payments, refunds, and payment adjustments across federal, state, and local jurisdictions
Provide accounts payable and general ledger support related to tax reporting, information returns, reconciliations, and tax provision systems
Support SOX compliance for the tax function, including documentation of tax positions, coordination of tax and finance meetings, and verification of control signoffs
Assist with international tax compliance initiatives, including data collection for country-by-country reporting, audits, and global information requests
Develop, maintain, and improve tax data collection systems, compliance files, databases, software licenses, and processes to support audits, acquisitions, credits, legal filings, and research projects
Requirements:
Must possess one or more of the following: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Economics
Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Economics with two (2) years in a corporate environment or accounting services, preparing tax returns and reports
High School Diploma or equivalent with five (5) years in a corporate environment or accounting services, preparing tax returns and reports
Solid understanding of accounts payable, treasury payment systems and basic accounting and tax processes
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
Strong communication with multiple groups, including government officials, vendors, and outside consultants
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Explorer Internet software
