Job Description

A well-established CPA firm in Palm Desert is seeking experienced tax professionals to join its team. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with a strong background in public accounting and tax preparation, preferably those who hold a CPA or EA designation. The firm is open to professionals with a few years of experience as well as more senior-level tax talent. This role is focused on tax, not audit.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and review individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns
  • Support tax planning, research, and compliance activities for a variety of clients
  • Analyze financial records and identify tax issues, opportunities, and filing requirements
  • Communicate with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide tax-related support
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of tax work in compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Assist with year-end tax projections and ongoing client advisory needs
  • Stay current on tax law updates and changes impacting clients
  • Collaborate with firm leadership and team members during busy season and throughout the year

Requirements

  • 2–3+ years of recent tax experience in public accounting required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • EA credentials also highly desired
  • Prior experience in a CPA firm or similar public accounting environment required
  • Strong tax preparation and review experience across multiple return types
  • Audit-focused backgrounds are not the target for this role
  • a tax-focused background is required
  • Senior-level tax professionals are also encouraged to apply
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to manage deadlines in a client-service environment

Nice to have

  • Experience working with a diverse client base in a public accounting setting
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative firm environment
  • Longer-term public tax experience is highly valued
