Job Description

As Talent Lead, you will own the strategy and execution of everything related to hiring — from top-of-funnel sourcing to closing, onboarding, and org design. You will be responsible for ensuring that Tandem stays ahead of its talent curve, not behind it. This role blends operator mindset, systems thinking, and high-urgency recruiting execution. You will build a high-quality, high-velocity hiring engine across technical, business, and leadership roles, while helping the rest of the team raise their hiring bar and make faster, better people decisions. You will partner directly with the CEO and executive team on hiring goals, headcount planning, leveling, and compensation, and build the infrastructure to support it all. You will also coach and manage our early recruiters and help define what great looks like for recruiting at Tandem as we grow. This is a rare opportunity to own the full-stack talent function in a company that takes hiring incredibly seriously and views it as core to its competitive edge. We are committed to making Tandem a company that is known for the quality of its team and that hyper talented individuals dream of joining.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead end-to-end hiring across engineering, AI, product, GTM, operations, and leadership
  • Build and manage a structured, outbound-heavy recruiting engine that moves fast and hits the bar
  • Partner with execs on hiring plans, prioritization, org design, leveling, and compensation
  • Own recruiting strategy as a business function, forecasting needs, tracking funnel performance, and optimizing hiring ROI
  • Manage and coach individual contributor recruiters (starting with a strong founding recruiter already in place)
  • Design and evolve interview processes, candidate experience, and top-of-funnel programs
  • Lay the foundation for broader talent infrastructure — onboarding, contractor sourcing, people systems, and employer brand

Requirements

  • 6–12 years in recruiting, talent strategy, or operations, ideally at a high-growth startup or in a top-tier hiring org
  • Proven ability to build or scale fast, effective hiring engines across functions and levels
  • Strong analytical and systems thinking — you treat recruiting as a pipeline and understand funnel math, resourcing, and hiring velocity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with exceptional ability to pitch top-tier candidates and quality taste for language in JDs and other external material
  • Track record of moving quickly, finding shortcuts, and going to unreasonable lengths to deliver on goals
  • High NPS with your former teammates

What we offer

  • Fully covered medical, vision, and dental insurance
  • Memberships for One Medical, Talkspace, Teladoc, and Kindbody
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO) and 16 weeks of parental leave
  • 401K plan setup, FSA option, commuter benefits, and DashPass
  • Lunch at the office every day and Dinner at the office after 7 pm
  • Offers Equity
