Job Description:

The Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas to identify and define necessary system enhancements, including using script tools and analyzing/interpreting code to meet specific business needs or user areas
  • Monitor and control all phases of development process and analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation as well as provide user and operational support on applications to business users
  • Work with the business teams to gather user requirements
  • Design and develop Talend ETL jobs, SQL queries based on signed-off requirements
  • Work on production support issues in coordination with the production support team
  • Periodic issue analysis to identify issues and find root causes
  • Coordinate with business users to support ad-hoc report development/change requests

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in the Financial Service industry
  • Intermediate level experience in Applications Development role
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Experience primarily with Talend ETL development and migration projects
  • Experience with any one other ETL tools - IBM Data stage/Abinitio/Spark
  • Experience with SAP Business object or any other Business Intelligence tools like Tableau/COGNOS (secondary)
  • Good Unix shell scripting skills
  • Experience in RDBMS, preferably Oracle with SQL query writing skills
  • Good understating of Data-warehousing concepts like Schema, Facts/Dimensions
  • Familiarity with identification and resolution of data quality issues
  • Strong and effective inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a business user
  • Great team player with a passion to collaborate with colleagues
  • Knowledge of any application server (Weblogic, WAS, Tomcat etc)

Nice to have:

  • Good understanding of data migration, version upgrade, tool replacement projects
  • Good Understanding of Bigdata and Hadoop ecosystem
  • Apache Spark with java
  • Good Understanding of Hive and Impala
  • Testing frameworks (test driven development)
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of Maven, Python scripting skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
