Job Description:

We are seeking a Tailings and Dam Engineer to join our Tailings & Water team at Cadia Operations. This is a key site-based role where you will apply your geotechnical expertise to support, advise, and provide governance across tailings and water dam operations, projects, and construction activities. You will play an important role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and sustainable management of tailings facilities from design through to closure. The Tailings and Dam Engineer will be proactive in safety culture by leading by example, conducting regular safety audits to ensure compliance with standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver safe and effective outcomes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Review design and support project delivery from concept to completion
  • Monitor geotechnical risks and provide regular reporting
  • Conduct inspections relating to TSFs, slope stability, and related hazards
  • Prepare and submit dam safety reports
  • Provide oversight of tailings and water dam operations and activities
  • Ensure construction and operation align with company standards and dam safety requirements
  • Contribute to and maintain Dam Safety Management Systems
  • Work closely with operations, projects, environmental and community teams
  • Liaise with Engineers of Record (EOR), technical review boards, and contractors
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and optimization projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in mining, with exposure to tailings or dam-related work preferred
  • Knowledge of ANCOLD and GISTM tailings standards
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities
  • A commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement
  • Experience with utilising mine design software

Nice to have:

Exposure to tailings or dam-related work preferred
