Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Tableau/Power BI Developer to join our team in San Diego, California. This is a long-term contract position offering the opportunity to lead a key reporting modernization initiative within the non-profit sector. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in both Tableau and Power BI platforms and a proven ability to transform complex data into actionable insights while ensuring accuracy and performance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Analyze and evaluate existing Tableau dashboards to understand data sources, calculations, and visualization logic
  • Lead the migration and optimization of dashboards, KPIs, and visualizations from Tableau to Power BI
  • Build scalable and user-friendly dashboards in Power BI using advanced data modeling techniques
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and validate reporting accuracy post-migration
  • Implement best practices for data governance, version control, and performance optimization
  • Develop and maintain robust data models across both Tableau and Power BI platforms
  • Mentor team members and provide guidance on BI reporting standards and platform features
  • Ensure seamless integration of multiple data sources while adhering to data security protocols
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to report performance and visualization consistency

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience with Tableau and Power BI at a senior level
  • Demonstrated expertise in migrating reports and dashboards from Tableau to Power BI
  • Proficiency in Power Query, Tableau calculations, and advanced visualization techniques
  • Strong background in data modeling and integrating multiple data sources
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and cloud-based data environments such as Azure or Snowflake
  • Experience with performance tuning for large datasets and optimizing report efficiency
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into intuitive and actionable reporting solutions
  • Familiarity with Power BI Service, dataflows, and workspace administration
