Job Description:

The Applications Development Tableau Lead Developer is a senior level position responsible for establishing and implementing new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead applications systems analysis and programming activities

Job Responsibility:

  • collaborate closely with business users to elicit, analyze, and document reporting and dashboard requirements, considering data analytics, visualization best practices, and UI/UX design principles
  • design, develop, and maintain interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports in Tableau, utilizing various data sources
  • perform in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and valuable business insights, translating complex data into easily understandable visualizations
  • develop and implement robust security measures within Tableau to ensure data integrity and confidentiality
  • create and maintain comprehensive functional and technical documentation for all developed dashboards and reports
  • contribute to the definition and enforcement of operating standards and procedures for Tableau development and deployment
  • provide technical expertise and guidance to stakeholders, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) for Tableau-related inquiries
  • proactively identify opportunities to improve existing dashboards and reports, enhancing their performance and usability
  • participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • manage multiple priorities effectively, adapting to changing deadlines and evolving requirements in a fast-paced environment

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in Tableau development
  • proven ability to interact with business users, gather requirements, and translate them into effective data visualizations
  • strong proficiency in designing and developing dashboards in Tableau using diverse data sources
  • demonstrated expertise in data analysis and interpretation, with a focus on uncovering actionable business insights
  • extensive experience building reports, dashboards, and scorecards
  • deep understanding of Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Server
  • strong data modeling skills
  • working knowledge of QlikView/QlikSense and MicroStrategy is a plus
  • experience creating clear and concise functional and technical documentation
  • proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • strong SQL skills in at least one database platform (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
  • experience connecting Tableau to Big Data platforms
  • experience connecting Tableau Server to APIs
  • experience with Tableau Mobile development
  • experience integrating Tableau with Python
  • bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • master’s degree preferred

Nice to have:

  • working knowledge of QlikView/QlikSense and MicroStrategy
  • experience with data warehousing and ETL processes
  • familiarity with data governance and security best practices
  • experience with performance tuning of Tableau dashboards and reports
