We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Safety Engineer to support Aircraft Systems Development Programs through all phases of the lifecycle. In this role, you will apply structured safety program processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and system integrity. You will lead and contribute to safety analyses such as Functional Hazard Assessments, Safety Assessments, and Hazard Analyses, while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
Job Responsibility:
Support Aircraft Systems Development Programs through all phases of the lifecycle
Apply structured safety program processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and system integrity
Lead and contribute to safety analyses such as Functional Hazard Assessments, Safety Assessments, and Hazard Analyses
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve complex technical challenges
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field
2+ years of experience on New Aircraft System Development Programs that have utilized structured safety program processes or plans
Must have experience with Software Safety Standards and Requirements across the full development lifecycle from Hazard Identification through development to System/Software Qualification Test (e.g. DO-178C, MIL-STD-822, AMCOM385-17, Joint Software Safety Engineering Handbook)
Must have proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with cross functional teams in resolving complex highly integrated functional systems problems
Must be familiar with the Civil Safety process defined in Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) ARP-4761 and ARP-4754 and Defense Safety Process defined in MIL-STD-882
Must have direct experience in SAE ARP4761 analyses: Aircraft and System Functional Hazard Assessments (AFHA/SFHAs), Aircraft and System Safety Assessment (PASA, PSSA. ASA, SSA), Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA), Common Mode Analysis (CMA)
Must have direct experience in MIL-STD-882 analyses: Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Operational & Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA), Health Hazard Analysis (HHA), System/Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SHA/SSHA), Failure Modes and Effects Criticality Analyses (FMECA), Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
Technical and functional understanding of Aircraft, Aircraft Systems and Avionics
Excellent communicator, able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external, and brief leaders/customers
Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Departments of State or Commerce, as applicable
Legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status
Nice to have:
Operational understanding of Aircraft, Aircraft Systems, and related Support Systems
Experience or training in the development and application of model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and model-based safety analysis (MBSA)
Related degrees with relevant experience such as Military Rotorcraft/Powered Flight Aviator or Mechanic qualification
