Job Description:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Systems Operations Engineer. This role involves leading complex initiatives, providing high-level systems consultation, participating in large-scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure, and working as a Monitoring and Observability Engineer to enhance observability frameworks and tool integration.

Job Responsibility:

Lead complex, broad impact initiatives including provision of high level systems consultation for the technology teams
Work as key participant in large scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations functional area
Review and analyze complex technical challenges, as well as escalated support issues related to core business solutions
Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements
Consult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
Collaborate and consult with technical peers, colleagues, and mid to more experienced level managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals
Collaborate with Vertical Application Support Teams to understand system architecture, performance baselines, and critical business transactions
Enhance Observability Frameworks by designing and implementing end-to-end observability solutions
Integrate observability tools into application environments and optimize dashboards, alerts, and reports
Develop automation scripts using Python or Shell to streamline monitoring setup, data collection, and alerting mechanisms
Use SQL to extract, analyze, and correlate data from monitoring platforms and application databases
Participate in incident triage and post-mortem analysis to identify observability gaps
Maintain clear documentation of observability configurations, standards, and best practices

Requirements:

5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education
5+ years of hands-on experience in IT Production support, monitoring and observability tools across enterprise-scale environments
In-depth knowledge of production support processes, including incident management, change management, and root cause analysis
Experience with monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk, Thousand Eyes, Appdynamics, Prometheus, Elastic Stack(ELK)) and technologies(Unix, Shell Scripting, SQL/Oracle, SQL Server, Python, OCP, PCF, Cloud knowledge, AI, Gen AI)
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to resolve critical issues
Strong communication and Interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks
Experience developing monitoring scripts, alerting logic, and automation workflows
Solid understanding of SQL with the ability to write complex queries for data analysis and reporting
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, with hands-on experience applying them

Nice to have:

Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks
Experience developing monitoring scripts, alerting logic, and automation workflows
Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, with hands-on experience applying them
