Job Description:

The Atlassian Senior Engineer is a hands-on technical expert responsible for configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Atlassian platforms. The role requires strong experience with Jira, Confluence, and Agile practices, along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will drive cloud migrations and ensure platform health and reliability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Implement and maintain Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence, Bitbucket, Guard and other applications in the Atlassian eco-system
  • Configure workflows, custom fields, schemes, issue types, SLAs, queues, forms and request types meeting the business needs
  • Configure Marketplace apps conforming to the business needs
  • Build automations using Jira Automation, ScriptRunner, PowerScripts or Forge
  • Build agents using Forge and Atlassian Studio
  • Maintain user management, permissions, roles, and access patterns in accordance with governance
  • Build and test platform components, integrations, dashboards, metrics, and reporting solutions
  • Support the creation of technical documentation, procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles
  • Ensure engineering deliverables follow standards and platform guardrails defined in the Atlassian governance model
  • Contribute to the ongoing capability development building marketplace solutions
  • Support technical enablement of the wider team
  • Develop and maintain integrations with CI/CD pipelines, Code repos, identity systems, monitoring tools, API-based workflows and external platforms
  • Implement end‑to‑end DevOps automation patterns, ensuring traceability across delivery and ITSM processes
  • Drive Atlassian Cloud migrations using JCMA and CCMA
  • Conduct pre‑migration clean-up (users, roles, workflows, apps, spaces, projects), support test migrations, validate data and functionality, and execute post‑migration tasks
  • Apply best practices for seamless cloud migration
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex platform issues
  • Conduct health checks, performance tuning, and platform maintenance
  • Ensure solutions are secure, resilient, and aligned with quality standards and engineering methodologies
  • Work with Agile teams, Scrum Masters, Developers, and Product Owners to improve adoption of Jira and Confluence
  • Recommend improvements to workflows, service management processes, governance and tooling
  • Promote use of productivity tooling, automation and new approaches to problem‑solving
  • Support capability uplift within offshore/onshore delivery squads

Requirements:

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Atlassian Cloud and Data Center
  • Expertise configuring Jira Software, JSM, Confluence, Bitbucket, Guard, Analytics, Advanced Roadmaps and Marketplace apps
  • Proficiency in ScriptRunner, Jira Automation, Forge, API scripting and integration patterns
  • Experience supporting cloud migrations, test cycles, and data validation activities
  • Strong understanding of Agile and ITSM practices
  • Ability to diagnose, structure, and resolve complex technical issues independently
  • Clear communication across technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Capacity to work as part of cross-functional teams and support knowledge sharing
  • Ability to present technical recommendations with supporting rationale
  • Atlassian certified Professional (ACP‑120, ACP‑610, ACP‑620, ACP‑420, etc.)
  • Experience in enterprise-scale platforms (5,000+ users)
  • Background in DevOps, scripting (Python/Java/Groovy), and REST API development
  • Experience in regulated environments (finance, telecom, government)
  • ACA (Atlassian Certified Associate) certification
