Job Description:

Join the National Energy Analysis Centre (NEAC) as a Systems Engineering Specialist, where you will play a key role in developing and applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to support Australia's energy transition. You will work with a cross-disciplinary team to build MBSE capabilities and applications that deliver meaningful value to government, industry, and communities.

Job Responsibility:

Translating stakeholder perspectives into formal SysML requirements
Developing SysML models aligned with NEAC's reference architecture
Creating scientific computing software for analytical workflows
Collaborating with NEAC leadership and technical teams to deliver on strategic priorities
Coaching colleagues in systems engineering practices and engaging with the wider community
Upholding CSIRO's values and commitment to safety, diversity, and sustainability

Requirements:

A degree in Systems Engineering or a related field, with 5+ years of industry or research experience
Deep understanding of MBSE and systems architecture using SysML
Strong computational skills in scientific computing languages (e.g., Python, Julia, R, MATLAB)
Experience modelling and solving constrained optimisation problems in scientific computing environments
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a dynamic, agile team

Nice to have:

Experience with SysML modelling tools (e.g., CATIA, IBM Rhapsody)
Familiarity with Git and team-based software development
Experience in data analytics with large or complex datasets
Understanding of supply chains and/or energy systems
